Either way, he actually almost got away with quite a bit of my emergency money and knives - the worst of all, I think, was the theft of my molasses candy!

[YOU KNOW.
CONSIDERING THEIR HISTORY.]
Actually, I made them myself. They're not that difficult to make once you understand how, after all.

GALRA TEA TIME...
If anything in fact, he's...relieved, really.
The last 24 hours or so have been rather stressful. The last few days have been abundantly stressful, actually. Thanksgiving was an event in itself, but then the kidnapping? The battle? The attempted exorcism? (he's still seeing Visions of Something and he doesn't Like it, at all)
Everything has been bad, and also terrible, and to top it all off they sent him flying back home with a strict warning to act casual or else. Not for him of course. He'd gladly sacrifice himself if it meant saving the others.
That's really the problem though isn't it. Because now they have Jolyne, and he has no idea who to trust, and-
And it's tea time.
He can't outright say anything. Not yet. But he'll ask some questions, at least. Watch the other. See if anything is off.
...
If nothing is, then maybe it's not as hopeless as he thought.]
Hello, 'Arthur'! [he rather cheerfully greets as he arrives for a regular tea.] Has the weekend been well?
Re: GALRA TEA TIME...
Sherlock seemed for a moment distracted as he slices an apple]
It's been rather quiet, more so than I thought for a holiday that only Americans really celebrate.
no subject
Which for the most part they really aren't. As it is-]
Oh yes- 'Thanksgiving'. I went with Jolyne to a...'Fake Thanksgiving'?
At the very least that's what Maverick referred to it as.
[Yes and then Jonathan wasn't on campus for an entire two days, and Jolyne still isn't back. Jonathan outwardly doesn't seem to be concerned by this, but it Is still noticeable at least.] A bit of quiet does seem to be a welcome break here at least, [he chuckles.]
no subject
[It was quiet in other ways, he had noticed he wasn't feeling any phantom pains or aches via proxy the last several days - or someone stabbing themselves in the hand. This already had him on edge.]
I suppose Miss Cujo is taking her time coming back?
[He asks, almost conversationally, but the distracted look in his eyes had vanished]
no subject
His hamon breathing is a little too focused. There's certainly no sparks, but he's too on edge, however much he's trying to hide that.] At the very least, it would have been rude to turn down such a personal invitation.
She shall be back soon enough though, I'm certain, [he lies.] ...Do you know her at all yourself?

So we almost died for real and we should probably genuinely talk, a thread
....Holmes...?
[It's a soft question, but -
After almost dying for good, and the utter despair and breakdown of all of his defenses - along with that ....being that had saved them at the last second before the being within Flat decided to revoke their curse -
He wants, oddly enough, to talk.
To really, truly talk - with no barriers or politeness in the way.
Like, perhaps, the brothers they apparently were.]
...Are you awake...?
no subject
Moriarty, he thought - even before hearing his name called out, his eyes fluttering open]
Yes... I believe so.
[His voice was thin, whispery]
no subject
[A part of him almost wants to cut it off there - to retreat, to act as if nothing happened.
But - not now. Not after everything they've been through.
To act like nothing changed - it would be a lie. One he wouldn't relish doing, and so -
With a soft groan - and shaky limbs - he rises up slightly from his bed, to prop up the pillows he has so he can be in a reclining position.
He always did recover fast, after all - though he is pushing himself a little.]
I - do you....feel up to....
[He pauses.
It's - so hard to make this next step, to admit that his mask is down. But...as always, he goes ahead, anyway.]
....Please. Talk with me. If...if you're able to.
[And in those few words, there's...a vulnerability that he's never really let Sherlock see before.
The cautious lowering of a barrier and a trembling extension of a hand.]
no subject
He pushes himself up, swinging his legs as he sat up, touching his forehead for a moment as if steadying himself, glancing away for a moment. The soft tones, the vulnerability - seems to hit something inside him]
...of course, I feel... this might be a long time coming.
[He turns his glance back, to look at him properly]
no subject
[There's - the way his shoulders sag, and his expression lightens just a little to show that he's relieved - as if he were expecting a full on rejection to his plea.
There's a silence, before he begins again.]
I - have realized something, during all of this.
...I do not want you to be my enemy anymore....Sherlock.
[That - would be unthinkable, normally. Using his name, stepping back from the rules of propiety - to say nothing of their pasts, and their history.
But, in truth - he hasn't thought of Sherlock as his Nemesis for a while.]

Oh. Don't try to warm them up, it's going to be far worse than just leaving them cold.
I'll take a look at him when I get back.

[Time to go get some blood...]
sometime later in July
I've done some digging in our family tree and I've found something I think you'd like to know
Are you free currently?
Re: sometime later in July

[Nothing really of note, but.]
I'll be over shortly.
[And he is, coming in holding a folder with quite a few papers inside.]
I suppose I should start off with the simple things - most of the 'branches of the tree' are relatively uninteresting. We aren't related to any famous figures in history, or the like - though I suppose past a certain point, it might be a bit more plausible. Mycroft's descendants seem to be doing well, also.
There is, however, something that's quite...unusual. Especially considering it is from the 'line' we directly come from.
[He opens the folder, handing over a paper containing information about -]
It seems our Great-Grandmother used to be a Vernet.
no subject
...Vernet, I know she's related to the paint...
[Sherlock pauses]
Oh. The other Vernets.
no subject
[And he'll pause here, mostly for drama.]
....Yet, there was something else I found about them - the reason for their decline.
