CANON INFORMATION
CHARACTER NAME: Sherlock Holmes
CANON: Fate/Grand Order
HISTORY: https://typemoon.fandom.com/wiki/Ruler_(Fate/Grand_Order_-_Holmes) (so sorry for linking to the wiki)
STRENGTHS: Curious: Perhaps his most well-known trait. He is a people watcher, and he notices even the smallest of details about a person. He is never happy with a 'just because' answer, if it's something of interest, or he deems important, he will keep digging at it until he's satisfied. While it certainly gotten him into trouble, and he learn things best left alone, over all his curiosity combined with his strong observational skills has been quite helpful.
Collected: Because of his age and experience as a detective, he has learned to remain calm even in highly stressful situations - allowing him to calculate and make plans even when fired upon or racing against a clock. This can make him come off as cold, even ruthless but this ability to keep himself from panicking as proven life-saving time and time again.
Moral: Despite what he claims, he is not entirely ruled by logic. Sherlock is a man with a very specific sense of right and wrong that isn’t entirely bound by Victorian society - no matter how he acts as a person, he wants to do what's right by people at the end of the day. The fact he went into crime instead of say archeology or some other mentally-stimulating fields does suggest he does want to fix things. Canonically, he’s listed as Neutral Good, and for once the alignment actually fits.
FLAWS: Repressed Expression: While he is shamelessly "Bohemian" in attitude, and his hobbies, he tends to act in a cool, detached manner and speak quite bluntly. His emotional expressions are also very subdued, making it difficult to tell what he is thinking. While he is more openly expressive with people he had grown attached to, he still comes off as very standoffish or detached from things. While he does care for people, he has an extremely difficult time showing it.
Proud: He knows he’s a great detective, he knows he solve what Scotland Yard has given up on. While he does recognize those who are talented, and those who are better than him and admits when he messes up, he still takes a great deal of pride in his skills, and will go into great detail of how he does it, not seeming to realize he comes off as a braggart when he does so. When he does slip up, he sulks and beats himself up severely, taking the mistakes as deep, grievous wounds to his ego that still hurts decades later.
Eccentric: His mind doesn’t work quite the same as others, and he constantly operates on a different wavelength. While for the most part his eccentricities are harmless and slightly irritating at the most, his way of viewing the world is vastly different enough that he has on more than one occasion seriously offended someone because he would bluntly reveal his deductions apropos of nothing, or leave others confused because he genuinely forgets that people need things explained to them. He also shows a mischievous streak, playing minor tricks and toying with people’s expectations.
CANON ABILITIES: He is a capable boxer and practitioner of a grappling-based marital art called Baritsu – though as a Servant his physical capabilities is barely above that of a normal human, and of course his powers of observation and deductive reasoning is nothing to sneeze at.
-Elementary My Dear: His Noble Phantasm where he essentially opens up the weaknesses of his opponents, dragging it out into plain view, with the ideal that his power of observation is so great that no weakness or flaw escapes his sharp eyes. According to lore, if he wasn’t restricted to the class of Ruler, his Noble Phantasm has the ability to eliminate other Servants, even magic entirely because he would find “The truth of their origins”.
-Empty House: His power of disguise is enhanced to a level where he can disguise himself as anyone, regardless of how different their body type, voice, even biological sex and species is from his own, including other Servants. However, he can’t imitate their special abilities or physical abilities – so he can look exactly like Hercules, but can’t imitate the demi-god’s legendary strength or his twelve lives. And while it’s physically perfect, an attentive person may be able to see through his disguises base on his behavior if he’s not careful.
And like most Servants, Sherlock Holmes can become an invisible, intangible spirit should he choose to.
AU INFORMATION
AU CHARACTER NAME: Sherlock Holmes, but going by the name “Arthur Bell”
AGE: 180-something
GRADE: Graduate-level
AU BACKSTORY: His life is the same as the books, and the alterations as described by the servant version up until Reichenbach falls. He indeed fell and had shattered his spine upon impact, and was in danger of drowning from all the water forced into his lungs. Much to his great fortune (or great misfortune), he was discovered by the vampire Dracula, who recognized the Detective from his obsessive studying on England, and both appreciating the man’s knowledge and recognizing his usefulness, he turns the dying man.
Shocked and horrified by the transformation, Holmes rebelled against the whole idea of a hunter lurking in the darkness and treating humans as prey, but could not bring himself to end his own life after such a close brush with death. Within a few months, he managed to flee Dracula's control, ending up in Tibet where he learned some techniques to calm his vampiric thirst and then eventually making his way back to London and impulsively revealed himself to his friend Watson.
Much to his surprise and relief, Watson took the revelations surprisingly well and furthermore immediately turned his keen medical mind and the latest scientific advances to help his friend learn the extent of his powers, and how best to reduce the need for blood. And aside from that, Watson carefully edited his stories and give plausible excuses for his eccentric friend to avoid arousing suspicion. During the time Dracula was in England, Sherlock sabotaged further shipments of native soil and otherwise made it harder for his Sire to resume his plot.
Eventually time passes, and even with all his skill with makeup, Sherlock knew his time as a public figure was running out, especially as he started to involve himself in the affairs of the supernatural. He faked his death, and went on to have a series of alter-egos, disposing of each one as his growing list of enemies get too close. Currently, he is posing as Arthur H. Bell, an unaffiliated vampire and ‘perpetual student of the sciences’, feeling that with Daybreak’s increasingly prominent role in stopping Nightfall that someone will try to sabotage them, so he joined the school to stop any would be villains.
AU PERSONALITY DEVIATION: While his personality in Grand Order is cold, even calculating, in the AU he still retains some of his warmth and humanity because he still engages with humanity as a whole, instead of withdrawing himself in order to conduct long-spanning investigations.
And unlike his canon self, he is no longer an audaciously shameless drug seeker (Blood is his drug).
RACE: Vampire
SECRET SOCIETY: The Diogenes Club:
A social club for Victorian Gentlemen who hate being social, but can’t look unrespectable by not having a club, with a strict rule about not talking at all in the innermost chambers. In reality, it’s a cover for government agents from various branches to exchange information without being spied upon. In Modern times, its secrets are more of a supernatural bent, and its outward appearance is a charitable society for the betterment of libraries.
POWERS: Aside from his canon powers of deduction, and excellent disguise work, Sherlock Holmes has the strengths and weaknesses of a Victorian pulp Vampire:
Strengths:
-Super Strength: If required, he’s capable of lifting a small car over his head.
-Heightened Senses: He can see in pitch blackness clear as day, and have the same olfactory powers of a blood hound, and the hearing of a bat. While an especially pungent smells, sudden bright flashes of light, or loud sound can stun him, the supernaturally good senses are generally more beneficial than harmful to him.
-Mist Form: He can change his body into intangible mist, allowing him to avoid all physical attacks, blend in with fog, and go through gaps that are far too small for any human or small animals for that matter to go through. Magical and Spiritual/Ghostly attacks can still harm him in this form.
-Mesmerism: He can put a person in a calm, relaxed state of mind, allowing him to easily persuade them into doing simple things for him, such as removing barriers, or to answer questions truthfully. He sometimes uses it to make feeding easier on his volunteer subjects – however, he cannot force someone to behave in a manner that they know is dangerous to them, or is completely contrary to their nature.
-Dog Whisperer: Probably due to his innately dog-like nature, dogs still naturally like and enjoy his presence – avoiding the issue most vampires have with dogs reacting badly to their presence, and it allows him to understand and request assistance from domestic dogs.
-Dog Form: Thanks to a complicated deal/penance granted by The Black Hound of the Dartmoors due to his hand in the baskerville hound's death, Sherlock now obtained the form of a large black canine that looks to be a mix of hounds and shepherd dog, and unlike his other powers, he can actually take on canine form in the daytime. He has the dog benefits of an even better nose and being able to traverse ground faster, as well as pretending to be a dumb dog to fool potential enemies.
Weakness:
-Dead at dawn: He requires sleep from dawn to noon, has no power from noon to dusk, and is easily overcome by a condition similar to sunstroke if he doesn’t cover himself fully when walking out in sunlight. By ‘requiring sleep’, that means he automatically falls unconscious at dawn, leaving him dangerously prone.
-Blood is needed: while Sherlock can sustain on animal blood for a few days to stave off the hunger, he requires half a pint of human blood at least once a week to retain his sanity, and that minimum leaves him rather lethargic and slower on the uptake (he’s still a sharp man, but not operating at his peak), he needs to feed at least 2 pints a week to operate optimally. Unless he’s actively working on a difficult case, he only drinks enough to function as a student. If deprived of human blood for over two weeks, he will turn feral until he feeds and during that time, instinct will overpower his moral qualms.
-Material Banes: Garlic repels him due to its mythological properties (much to his everloving annoyance), silver will burn him, and Wild Roses serve as a pretty powerful barrier. Religious items held by the faithful will also repel him – doesn’t matter what religion, long as there’s faith behind it.
-Lethal for vampires: A wooden stake in the heart, decapitation, being burned alive – they will all kill him.
-A Pain in the Link: Thanks to the link with Moriarty, when they're in relative close proximity, any pain the man feels, he feels - which can range from distracting to momentarily crippling depending on the severity of Moriarty's injuries.
HOUSING: He can RA, he prefers to have no room mates

INTERVIEW SAMPLE PROMPT:
(While he uses the name Arthur H. Bell, he doesn't hide his real personality)
1. TELL US ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCES SINCE GRADUATING. Since Cambridge… well, I’ve been all over the world – from Cairo to Laos, When you do not have to worry about expenses of living, it does make globe-trotting easier. I've attended various different universities all over.
2. WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO RETURN TO DAYBREAK ACADEMY? Oh, I transferred in here.I chose to return to schooling because science always advances at a fast pace, and while I may be essentially immortal, I rather not be a relic.
3. WHAT KIND OF TASKS DO YOU WANT OR EXPECT TO DO HERE? Well, I do expect not only to be attending classes, but that I would act as a teaching assistant and tutor to younger students.
5. WOULD YOU BE COMFORTABLE WITH MENTORING CURRENT STUDENTS OR ACTING IN AN ADVISORY ROLE? Of course. I’ve taken to acting as a tutor from time to time. Not only is it helpful to pass on information to keep it from getting lost, by the act of teaching, you will also uncover gaps in your knowledge and learn to fill it in.
6. WHAT, IN YOUR OPINION, IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING FOR A SCHOOL TO PROVIDE TO ITS STUDENTS? A thirst for self-improvement and knowledge, followed by security. To fail to protect them is to be a failure as a person, to fail to instill in them the desire to learn is to be a failure as an instructor.
7. WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE STUDENTS WHO ARE DEFIANT, ACTING OUT, OR OTHERWISE AT ODDS WITH PARTS OF SCHOOL LIFE? Well, that depends on why they are acting out. They could be justified. All I can say is make use of the therapists, or talk to someone they can trust.
9. WHAT, IN YOUR OPINION, IS THE MOST IMPORTANT LESSON A STUDENT SHOULD LEAVE WITH? Eyes and ears - always think and observe before you act. Never rush into anything.
10. WHAT, IN YOUR OPINION, IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU WERE TAUGHT BEFORE YOU GRADUATED? Never take things at face value, always ask questions until you find all the answers.
11. IF YOU COULD TELL CURRENT STUDENTS ONE THING ON GRADUATING, WHAT WOULD IT BE? The world will always change – find a fixture to lean on, but do not resist the changes.
