Good, because, it's BEING RUINED. How?

By the sudden appearance of an innocent looking bullsnake suddenly being draped around his shoulders as he sat down.]

Look who came to visit, Holmes!

[He was in fact having a good day, he was looking up insects native to the Colorado region after seeing a delightful little bumblebee when suddenly.

Moriarty came and ruin everything. As the snake was suddenly draped around his shoulders, the Detective stiffens, his eyes glancing to the reptile, before looking up at the criminal master - to anyone else, he seems just as calm as ever, but Moriarty could see the subtle tightness in his jaw]

Moriarty, where did you get this snake?

I borrowed her from a friend!

[His eyes glint as he grins down, because now Holmes knows it's not Moriarty's, and thus off limits.

The Bullsnake is actually pretty calm and tame - it's got a beautiful pattern on it with a black belly, and she's clearly enjoying the nice warm person she just got dropped on.]

She seems to like you, Holmes! How wonderful, yes? After all, you could just use Animal Communication to hear her.

[He can in fact hear her, curiously sniffing the warm body she's laid on. In most cases, being able to understand something makes the fear less.

But not this time, he tries not to hold it against the serpents, but he wish they would just slither less, or something]

Well she certainly thinks your hands are a little cold.

[His voice was a touch strained as he tries to banter, and ignore there is a snake on his shoulders, what the hell Moriarty!]

[HEHEHEHEHE SUFFER, HOLMES.

He gives a little chuckle at the banter, knowing Holmes is struggling past his fear.]

That would be due to the gloves, of course. Poor dear - they're so sensitive to temperature, and it IS a little cold in here...

[Which is about the time the snake decides to slide down into his coat proper, whoops.]

That... would certainly do it. I'm surprise - that her - owner would let you carry her so far.

[He was doing a pretty remarkable job so far, though his eyes are constantly darting to the snake, unable to suppress a shiver as the snake's tongue flicks]

[Then it happened - the snake slithering into a nice warm spot]

...*grk*

[Too much! Too much! Too much! Nope, Nope Nope to the rope!]

Ah... I really have to check on something!

[He hurriedly stands up, quickly grabbing the snake without hurting it, all but shoving it into Moriarty's grasp]

[THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT MORIARTY WANTED -

He laughs loudly, quickly putting her around his shoulders and letting her slither inside of his clothing while he grabs Holmes' coat, trying to stop his movement.]

Hm? Oh, but what's the rush, Holmes? It's been a while since we last chatted, hasn't it? Why don't we have some tea?

You know how lab experiments can be.

[He puts on the tightest of grins. God, he wants to vanish - but that would let Moriarty win and he can't have it]

A minute can make a difference between a successful result and having to clean up and start over.

[Moriarty's hand tightens on his coat, even though his smile just gets deeper.]

Hm? But if that's the case, wouldn't you be nearby, staying around to watch such a crucial reaction? Not to mention that you're so far away from any lab at the moment!

[God, he's loving this - either Holmes has to admit his defeat, or stick around as something he fears is nearby, ready to be dropped on his lap at any time.

He fucking lives for this shit.]

Or is it that you'd rather not have tea with me? Ah, how sad~

[It was not one of his finest lies, though given he had to make it up on the spot to try to get away from the unblinking reptile. He does try not to hold it against the creatures, but there's just something completely viscerally unpleasant about their unblinking eyes, slithering bodies - as if looking at them too long would reveal some kind of eldritch secret.

If it was anyone else, he'd just disappear, but with Moriarty, his shoulders lowered]

I doubt you came here just for tea.

Well, it's obvious, isn't it? I came to show you this darling girl, and -

[His voice suddenly gets serious, going from the rude trickster to the cold napoleon of crime in an instant.]

- I wanted to learn more of the island I was apparently on with you and the others.

[His voice lowers soon as Moriarty's entire demeanor changes, for the moment forgetting about the serpent upon the other man]

I was wondering when you ask that question.

[There's a quiet silence -

Before Sherlock can almost feel the sly smile that crosses his face, even though he's behind the man.]

...Well. Shall we sit down like civilized men, or should I continue to hold your coat so you don't run away?

[He gives a soft, defeated sigh]

Fine, we can sit.

Splendid!

[He lets go of the man's coat, coming over to take a seat across him - and idly scratching the head of the snake as she pokes out from his clothing to check, Sherlock able to hear 'move?' and 'why?' before she merely settles into 'warm' and 'nice' again, her head sliding back down out of sight.]

So - I have the general gist from what I've been able to glean from others. Namely, that quite a few of you ended up on an Island without your consent, though I was not among you.

So - how did I end up there?

[He considers how to answer, under normal circumstances he would not hesitate on explaining everything but he had to consider anything he said to Moriarty may get back to that harlequin. His eyes followed the movement of the Snake's curious little questioning - which would be cute if it was from literally anything else]

You were summoned and contracted there.

Summoned and contracted? How interesting - I would have thought I'd remember that, personally. Then again, it isn't as if this relies on the Chaldea FATE system...

[He falls into muttering, before shaking his head.]

...Was I a participant in the 'game', or a mere observer?

[He makes note of Moriarty mentioning the name, few Servants care to learn the name of the system, filing this detail away for later]

You were an observer, your contracting was not an anticipated event.

[He grins a little.]

I assume you were also quite unhappy with that turn of events? After all, I am your nemesis, and the man that 'killed' you for a few years.

Hmm...

[He actually seems to be in thought for a moment at the question]

Oh it was definitely most vexing, but you turned out to be quite helpful.

...Helpful? If Sherlock Holmes is the one saying that, then I shudder to think about my actions.

[He even shudders dramatically!]

[He actually bursts into laughter at Moriarty's shudder]

Several young ladies certainly appreciate your assistance if that will quell your nerves.

[He brightens up at that, nodding.]

Yes, yes - I'm well acquainted with Ann, my dear daughter! And the others seem to be quite pleasant as well. I have no issues with that part of it, at least!
